Introducing the launch of Aaptiv’s new Barre category in partnership with industry leader, Physique 57! Physique 57 has spent 15 years developing the best barre workouts in the world, and we are now bringing them to you in the Aaptiv app.
Benefits of Barre
Barre is a full-body workout technique incorporating elements of ballet, yoga, and Pilates, with low-impact, high intensity movements to strengthen and tone your body. Barre methods focus on engaging your core, and finding alignment throughout the entire body. It has been proven to increase flexibility, improve coordination and balance, and develop crucial core muscles. Learn more about the benefits of barre here.
About Physique 57
Using your own bodyweight as resistance, the Physique 57 workout targets the muscles in your arms, thighs, glutes and abs to the point of fatigue then stretches them for relief. Their proprietary process, called Interval Overload, combines cardio, strength training, core, and stretch sequences that will not only sculpt your ultimate physique, but will also empower you to push beyond your mental and physical limits. It’s not easy, but that’s exactly why it works
The Physique 57 method meets you where you are — and equips you with tools to see progress from the very first workout. Are you new to a regular fitness routine or cross-training for competitive results? Looking to lose weight or generally “tone up”? Regardless, each of their classes are structured to maximize every minute and move with their signature (scientifically tested) choreography and expert trainers. From smile-inducing music to challenging moves and variations, their workouts never (ever) end in plateaus. It doesn’t get easier — you just get better.
You’ll love (seeing) the changes in your body — and we mean every part of your body. From head to toe (and every muscle group in between) the Physique 57 method will strengthen and tone your muscles like nothing you’ve tried before.
Meet Katie – Physique 57 Master Trainer
My passion for movement began with my training as a professional dancer. I started with classical ballet classes at a young age, but took my first “fitness” class in high school. I attended New World School of the Arts, a performing arts high school, and was actually required to take Pilates classes as part of my dance curriculum. Even then, I was fascinated with the way exercise had the potential to complement the rigorous demands of my dance classes, keeping my body the perfect balance of strong and flexible.
Fitness turned into a lifestyle once I moved to New York City to pursue performing on a professional level. Some of my favorite performance credits include the Radio City Rockettes and Chicago the Musical on Broadway. In between shows, I teach group fitness classes and work as a personal trainer. For the past 12 years, I have taught Pilates and indoor cycling classes at gyms and studios in New York City and on Long Island; have worked as a master trainer and teacher trainer at Physique 57, and can be seen in many fitness videos. When I’m not teaching or performing, I’m busy snuggling my 6 month old sweet baby girl Katherine “Kit” Bailey.
