New AaptivMSK App Targets MSK Risks and Healthcare Costs

Workplace wellness is changing. Programs that once focused mainly on encouraging employees to exercise more are now expanding to include a broader goal: movement health—helping people move comfortably, efficiently, and without pain in their daily lives. This shift matters for employers as musculoskeletal (MSK) issues remain a leading driver of healthcare claims, absenteeism, and lost productivity. In response, Aaptiv has launched AaptivMSK, an app offered in partnership with movr, designed to help employees improve mobility, stability, and overall movement. (More details are available in the full press release.) With this addition, the Aaptiv platform now combines physical fitness, wellness, and targeted MSK support into one easy-to-use experience.

Why Employers Are Paying Attention to MSK and Movement Health

Movement health is gaining attention as healthcare and workplace wellness shift toward prevention rather than treating problems after they happen.  More employers recognize that waiting until employees are in pain or injured is often more costly in the long run. As a result, organizations are increasingly investing in programs that help people move well, stay active, and address minor issues before they become bigger problems.

Meanwhile, the conversation around aging is shifting toward healthspan (the years lived in good health) rather than just lifespan (the total years lived). In this context, physical activity is widely recognized as one of the most effective ways to protect against age-related decline

Research also shows that even people who exercise regularly may still face health risks if they spend most of the day sitting, highlighting the importance of movement throughout the workday, not just during dedicated exercise sessions.

From Fitness Goals to Functional Health

Traditional fitness usually measures things like how much weight a person can lift, how fast they can run, or how long they can keep going. Movement health takes a different approach.

At its core, movement health is about “functional longevity”, having the strength, mobility, and coordination to keep moving well and stay independent over time. In practical terms, it means the body’s joints, muscles, and nervous system work together efficiently, making it easier to handle the physical demands of daily life and reducing the risk of strain or injury.

This is more important than ever, as today’s workplaces include multiple generations and many employees managing chronic conditions or recovering from injuries. That’s why wellness programs that focus on movement quality, not just quantity or intensity, can help lower injury risk, reduce MSK costs, and keep employees active and productive over time.

AaptivMSK: Supporting Movement Health at Scale

As organizations prioritize movement health, digital tools play an increasingly important role in bringing these strategies to scale. AaptivMSK was created for this purpose, offering personalized programs that focus on mobility. These programs help employees address common problem areas such as the lower back, neck, and shoulders, which are frequent sources of pain and discomfort in today’s work environments.

Aaptiv: The Future of Workplace Wellness & Movement

When employees can move comfortably and confidently, they’re more likely to stay active, recover faster, and keep the energy and focus needed to perform at their best. Over time, these small, consistent improvements can lead to measurable gains in productivity, morale, and healthcare cost management.

As movement health continues to gain momentum, solutions that help employees move well, not just move more, are likely to play a growing role in workplace wellness. Aaptiv MSK is one way employers can begin putting movement health into practice.
